After a very successful AW16 campaign featuring Sam Harris we were ready to take it up a notch with the Spring/Summer Jo Mercer campaign!
The first task was to bring on a young, fun, talented model with a large social media presence. Our choice was Elyse Knowles. Joining her was an A-Grade creative team that we assembled from all over the world.
The location: Hollywood! And what better place to shoot than one of the most architecturally famous Hollywood Hills mansions; The Stahl House.
Across 2 days in LA we shot 19 campaign shots for in-store, online and social. We shot and produced 11 video pieces that were featured across media channels as well as in-store and online. And finally we dedicated one day for social media content, road tripping to Santa Monica and Venice Beach to shoot imagery to last months across social and web.
On top of all that our Managing Director, Daniel proposed to his long time girlfriend Em! What a week!!
Contrology is the worlds first pilates activewear range.
Shooting in a modern and minimalist beach house in St. Andrews we produced their first campaign with an objective to create a high end fashion feel while keeping true to their "Pilates Way of Life" philosophy.
Alongside their major marketing imagery we also generated months of social media content and a brand film to help launch them into the market.
We tied the product photography in with the strong Contrology branding by shooting very clean and simple yet full of natural movement. This was all shot in our in house Head On Studio.
Melbourne based lingerie label Exs + Ohs launched midway through 2015 with their first collection of comfy bras and undies.
Head On was tasked with the development and production of the campaign, product photography and video content. Playing on the brands young and fun vibe we created a celebration/party story casting Steph Claire Smith and Aisha McKinnon. We shot all content in studio and produced months of social media content as well as all product photography.
The videos were developed for social media, in particular Instagram. We launched the video series with clips featuring Aish and Steph separately, teaming up with local Melbourne band RaRa for the perfect track.

With a Drive/Stranger Things inspired feel we took on the crazy challenge of shooting this whole clip in 2 days across Melbourne and in our Head On Studio.
Watch for a few nice car rigging shots and some weird fluro paint getting thrown around!
Our long time friends and musical geniuses Swim Season came to us with their best track yet! Soldiers was produced, shot and edited all in house utilising the Head On Studio. The visual effects throughout were a reference to the amazing title sequence from True Detective.
After the success of the “Time by Wolsch” launch video, we got together with the Wolsch Watches team and came up with the next campaign. Joining forces with model and social media superstar Elyse Knowles we followed her on a journey from Melbourne to LA.
The outcome was content content content!

Head On created this visual piece to introduce ELEVEN Australia to a large European audience at the Session Map hair show in Sweden. Utilising photography shot by Andrew O’Toole we cut an engaging clip to the exact size
With one of the best public golf facilities in Melbourne we jumped at the opportunity to create some awesome videos for Yarra Bend Golf.
Producing clips for each aspect of the ‘Golfing Super Centre’ we utilised high end drones and great cinematography to capture the essence of the course, range and adventure golf course.

A simple concept with a complex post production resulted in this awesome clip.
2016 marked Head On’s 4th year collaborating with Kevin Murphy for MSFW. This fashion week saw us produce 20 video edits which included backstage highlights, Kevin Murphy hair education videos, next day turn arounds and of course HEAPS of amazing designer runways!
We also collaborated with some designers including Dom Bagnato and Nevenka to produce branded fashion films for the event!

The Jo Mercer Autumn/Winter campaign was a step towards a new market for the 17 years young Women’s shoes and accessories brand. We were tasked with the creation and production of a campaign that would attract a younger market without alienating their long time core demographic.
Our solution was pairing Indigenous Model Samantha Harris with one of the best Australian photographers Sam Bisso and an award-winning Mexican inspired concrete mansion.
The results were 19 incredible campaign shots that featured online, in fashion magazines and in stores Australia wide.
Producing a total of 8 pieces of video content for the brand was an essential strategy for the campaign. These short films and behind the scenes clips were spread across blogs and social media while featuring across the Jo Mercer website plus a 10-minute clip looping in store for the season.
For Wolsch Watches content was king! Over two days we produced both the lifestyle campaign images and the product photography. Working in the Head On Studios with photographer Jessica Apap (http://jessicaapap.format.com/) we made it our goal to produce as much high quality content as possible. The results have given Wolsch many months worth of social media and web content and of course the important product images that help sell their awesome watches!
Along with the images Head On also produced their introductory campaign video. To stay on brand we needed to be sophisticated with a touch of humour. We also needed to inform viewers about the features of the watches, but doing that alone won’t grab the attention the brand deserves. The result is a witty script spoken by a familiar voice alongside some “striking and majestic” images. Introducing “Time by Wolsch”
ELEVEN Australia and Gorman have teamed up for this summer campaign featuring Elyse Knowles.
Street wear brand We Kill Pirates launched their first collection “Lost Boy” in early 2014. Shooting their campaign photography on the streets of Prahran, we kept to a rough and desaturated look and used some of the brands founders as models for a realism that is tough to fabricate.
Deciding on a different direction for the campaign film we explored the brands surfing roots creating a beach roadtrip journey. With the Great Ocean Road and its famous beaches as our location we partnered with Melbourne musicians Swim Season and Feelds and followed them as they travelled, surfed and chilled. Feelds developed a track specifically for the campaign featuring up and coming Melbourne artist Nussy.
Our in house studio was utilized for the website product photography.
YCA is a Melbourne made clothing label tailored for the gentlemen of the world.
Tasked with the development and creation of their inaugural campaign we scripted a fashion film that followed three successful Yacht Club Attire wearing gentlemen. Working off the notion of a millionaire boys weekend away we sneak a peek into the lives of these successful men as they get ready to jump on the private jet after a long week at work.
Along with the fashion campaign film we developed content for web and social media use with eleven 15 second instagram videos, 4 short cut down edits and a behind the scenes film.
Aligning the photography campaign with the video content was a priority, leaving us with the easy choice of shooting all images in the same three locations as the film. These images needed to capture luxury, style and class whilst showing off the hand crafted garments.
Finally the product photography was shot in our studio in Prahran and features flat lay as well as model shots. For even more content we filmed a behind the scenes teaser that was released prior to the launch of the brand.
Moodswing is a social networking app for sharing your emotions. Their launch was lead by our campaign video aimed at social media loving teenagers. Developing the concept with the founder of this start up, we created 3 stories that would flow into each other and also have the advantage of being used separately. Through the use of animated pop-ups the characters emotions could be seen as events occurred around them. The aim was to create controversial situations that would be talked about and shared through social media channels such as facebook. Playing on the emotions of bank robbers and one-night stands generated plenty of discussion both positive and negative but most importantly brought peoples attention to the app itself. The video received over 32,000 views on youtube during the launch period and was uploaded to multiple large facebook channels generating a huge number of shares, likes and views. The app shot to 100,000 users just over 2 months after launch.
Linen House commissioned Head On to create a simple and effective concept for their very first Television commercial. The initial limitation was to create a TVC with still images supplied by Linen House. With an extremely tight deadline we developed an animation that sketched around multiple beds dressed with Linen House products. Through postproduction movement and animation we created an engaging commercial with simple still images. The end result was two 15-second TV spots that aired over 250 times on approximately 15 channels.
MSFW is an international showcase of established and emerging local designers. Together with Kevin Murphy, Head on Media produced daily wrap up videos for each designer series runway over 7 nights. The clips feature behind the scenes footage of world acclaimed hair and session stylist Kevin Murphy at work backstage plus highlights from each runway show. With incredibly short time frames, each video was filmed, edited and released to the public through youtube, web and social media the following morning.
Along with the one day turnaround clips, Head On was commissioned by Kevin Murphy to create 6 “how to” videos based around the hair styles for each designer series runway. To be used in the education sector of the Kevin Murphy brand, each video incorporates the steps in creating the hair for each runway show. Through the use of interviews with Kevin Murphy and cutaways of both runway and backstage hair styling, the clips come together as a great educational tool.
